Job Description

Are you an experienced accountant with expert knowledge on tax Are you motivated by working within the not for profit sector Would you like to start a new contract immediately If yes, read on!This rapidly growing educational organisation are currently seeking a Tax Accountant (VAT) to join their high-performance for an intital six-month contract, on a hybrid basis based in London.The key duties of this Tax Accountant (VAT) are as follows:

  • Play a leading role in all things tax and VAT for the charity, liaising with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to provide sound advice and guidance.
  • Take the lead in the review of existing VAT and tax procedures, ensuring everything is fit-for-purpose and developing new processes for any identified system gaps.
  • Full responsibility for preparing VAT returns for submissions to HMRC on a quarterly basis.
  • Closely monitor all overseas transactions, dealing with any reverse charges and liaising with in-country tax advisors to ensure all tax is treated in accordance with local laws.
  • Ensure adherence to the charitys tax strategy, driving forward new initiatives where appropriate.
  • Sole charge for corporation tax computations at year end and act as the key point of contact for all queries relating to VAT.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Achieved their fully accountancy qualification or be part-qualified.
  • A strong background in VAT, with excellent knowledge of partial exemption and reverse charges.
  • Experience working in the higher education or charity sector, although this is not essential.
  • Brilliant communication skills and knowledge of Making Tax Digital.
