My client a leading law firm are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who is studying towards an accounting qualification such as CIMA or ACCA. The successful candidate will provide essential accounting supportto the Financial Accountant and will have the opportunity to engage in finance-related projects and the implementation of new systems, policies, and procedures.Day to Day of the role:Calculation and posting of standard month-end accounting journals, including prepayments, accruals, and bad debt provision.Preparation of the monthly profit and loss account and investigation of variances against the budget.Reconciliation of balance sheet codes to supporting documentation.Maintenance of the fixed asset register and calculation and posting of depreciation journals.Preparation of the Firm’s Weekly Pack, which provides financial KPIs.Preparation of schedules for the LLP’s annual statutory audit and assisting with auditor queries.VAT return preparation.Preparation of ad-hoc reports on financial performance and partners’ monthly fees report.Sending out time reports to fee earners and completion of various surveys and ad-hoc tasks.Developing knowledge of financial systems to assist team members with issue resolution.Assisting with improvements to systems and updates to financial policies and procedures.Required Skills & Qualifications:Currently studying towards an accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA).Eagerness to learn with a conscientious and detail-oriented approach.Aptitude for problem-solving with a flexible, supportive, and cooperative work ethic.Positive attitude with excellent teamwork skills.Good time management and the ability to work overtime when necessary.Strong communication skills, both oral and written.Benefits:Competitive salary and the opportunity to work in a personable, progressive, and entrepreneurial environment.Support for professional development and commitment to personal growth.Inclusive work culture with a focus on creating a diverse workforce.Exposure to high-profile matters and quality work.The working hours are 9.30-5 and the role is 3 days in the office and 2 from home.
