Job Description

Java Developer - Big Data, Large Data Sets, SQL or MySQL - Near Exeter - £35,000 to £45,000 - Ref: J2561We have a new opportunity for a Java Developer to join a very successful technology business just outside of Exeter. We are looking for a Java Developer to contribute to their server-side systems.The successful candidate must have strong Java programming experience as well as being confident working with large datasets. The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a team, and thrive from seeing the results of their work safely deployed into production environments.Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ownership of key server processes and services
  • Deployment and upkeep of relevant services
  • Ensuring low-debt, defensive, and secure solutions
    • Skills knowledge and Experience required:
  • Previous experience in a similar role developing with Java
  • Experience of using SQL or MySQL on large data sets / big data with an understanding of Stored Procedures
    • Other nice to have non-essential skills knowledge and experience:
  • Knowledge of C++
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Familiarity with building unit and regression tests
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kube)
  • Knowledge about microservice architecture
  • Experience of the full SDLC
  • Previous DevOps experience
