Job Description

Job title: Lead Practitioner - Residential ChildcareLocation: ChorleySalary: From £10.30 to £11.78 per hour - depending on qualifications and experience.Job type: Permanent. 8am to 11pm, 1 on 2 off (shift patterns may vary).If you are looking for an exciting and challenging career, this opportunity may be of interest to you. You will provide day to day care, direction and support to young people who may display challenging and disruptive behaviours, emotional and social difficulties.Working within a supportive therapeutic environment you will be part of a team dedicated to caring for young people with compassion and a commitment to positive relationships.Sandcastle Care Ltd is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.Job Purpose:To provide high quality childcare practice, within Sandcastle Cares model of an integrated therapeutic approach. To support the Home Manager to ensure that a therapeutic environment is developed in accordance with the Companys Core Values. To ensure efficientand effective service delivery with a view to supporting the positive development of staff, service and organisation and improved outcomes for every young person.Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children and young people in our care.
  • Promote the delivery of a safe, structured and nurturing environment and immediately report any unsafe practices, conditions or concerns.
  • Assist in the implementation of care and placement plans.
  • Contribute to placement planning, participate in reviews and other meetings, write and amend reports.
  • Ensure ongoing assessment of our childrens individual and collective needs in day to day practice and be able to evidence achievements.
  • Encourage our children to be actively involved in the environment and day to day activities.
  • Relate to and engage our children who display challenging behaviour and use a variety of behaviour management strategies.
  • Provide a caring and supportive environment for our children that respects and affirms their racial, cultural and religious identity and lifestyle.
  • Ensure an open culture is created so that children and young people feel that they are listened to.
  • Support the team, assess and define issues and challenges.
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, professionals, children and families.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Minimum 18 months or more experience working within a residential setting.
  • Diploma level 3 (Children and young people workforce) or equivalent / or working towards.
  • Ability to interact with a range of people/young people.
  • Ability to lead a team and to work as part of a team.
  • To be able to provide consistency of care and support to the young people.
  • Experience working with children who may display challenging behaviour.
  • Commitment to working with children who may be at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation.
  • Shift work including weekends, evenings & sleep in duties on a rota system.
  • Full Driving Licence is essential.
Other Requirements:
  • Sleeping in / shift work on a rota system, including evenings and weekends.
  • Provide cover to other homes within the company when required.
  • Attend and participate in supervision and staff meetings as required by governing legislations.
  • Undertake all relevant training as required by governing regulation, guidance and the Company.
