Job Description

Skilled Handy-person10 / 11 Month ContractMonday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:30 12 week probation period £12.50 thereafter £14.64Benefits:

    • As part of the maintenance team, your role will be to support the team, responding to ad hoc requests as identified by the Supervisor / Manager.Main job requirements will be, but not restricted to:
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance activities
  • Carry out and document regular inspections of plant and equipment in computerised system
  • To be capable of carrying out repairs and maintenance to the building, its facilities and infrastructure including - plumbing, joinery, painting, and general works etc.
  • Carrying out routine procedures or checks on ancillary equipment, e.g. fire alarms / equipment, automatic pumps & sprinkler systems, lighting, water checks etc.
  • Basic electrical tasks to include cleaning light fittings and to include testing of emergency lighting systems as required, replacing where necessary minor parts such as tubes, bulbs, fuses starters and diffusers, in accordance with safe working practices
  • Basic plumbing tasks to include un-blocking toilets, drains, sinks, traps and waste pipes. Adjustment-replacement of washers and taps.
  • Joinery- First line maintenance of fixtures and fittings, examples: tightening screws on window hinges, maintenance on door handles, minor repairs as a temporary measure
  • PAT testing of equipment.
  • The ability to remove and replace items during decoration i.e. ironmongery, noticeboards, shelves
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety in terms of the Working at Heights regulations and COSHH.
  • The ability to work carefully and pay attention to detail.
  • Leave areas clean and tidy after completion
  • Look after equipment by storing and cleaning as appropriate.
    • The following would be an advantage but not necessity
  • Building & Facilities Maintenance. Electrical Qualifications, PAT testing certification, IPAF- 3a & 3b (Access Equipment - scissor & boom lifts).
