Job Description

Were supporting our clients as they adapt to a new world in the wake of COVID-19. Were now recruiting for roles which will help our clients to deliver vital services and to resume business wherever possible.Help strengthen our Team as a Junior Technical Support Consultant. Headquartered in Chippenham but happy to consider home based with occasional visit to the office. We have an exciting opportunity for a helpdesk/service desk/technical support analyst to join our team to progress their skills and experience further with us. This is an extremely varied role that involves upgrades, migrations, installations and technical support, ranging from Operating System and RDBMS support through to supporting our in house developed applications.Our Technical Helpdesk has many functions, it provides ad hoc support to all customers, a Managed Service for a subset of these, application and DBA support for our SaaS solution, as well as IaaS support in Microsoft Azure.Our support model is rapidly changing and to meet the needs of our customer base we are moving into cloud- based hosting in Azure. This role will involve learning new skills as we change our methods of operation.There is a requirement to work evenings and weekends for scheduled work, which is paid at overtime rates.What were looking for:

  • Experience in 1st line support/technical support/service desk/helpdesk
  • Experience in Linux or Unix command line
  • Use or creation of scripts for example Bash, PowerShell, Ruby or Python
  • Microsoft product knowledge (i.e. Windows Server, SQL Server, IIS)
  • Experience or a keen interest in working in a technical operational role
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • The desire to continuously learn new skills and ability to learn quickly
  • Able to work well in team and under your own initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast paced environment
  • Previous experience in an external customer focused role.
  • Interest or Exposure to the following is a plus:
  • SQL or RDBMS administration experience (i.e. Ingres, MSSQL, MySQL, Progress)
  • RDS experience
  • Basic understanding of VPNs
  • Microsoft Azure and cloud technologies
  • Service Now
  • Open source software products - (i.e. Apache Tomcat, MySQL, OpenJDK)
  • Desired state configuration management (i.e. Puppet)
  • GIT
