SEN Teaching AssistantChesterfieldFull Time (Monday-Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm)September 2023 StartAt Career Teachers we are currently working with an Ofsted rated "Good" primary school in Chesterfield who currently require a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their successful team in September 2023. This is initially a temporary role, with the opportunityto then go onto a permanent contract. The role is to provide 1-1 support a pupil with autism.Your Requirements:

• Experience working with children and young people with additional learning needs such as non-verbal Autism on a 1-1 basis.
• A recognised teaching assistant qualification such as Level 2, Level 3 or a degree in education or transferable skills.
• Team Teach Training preferred, but not essential.
• Confident in managing challenging behaviours, defusing situations, and making a calm and positive environment for students to progress in.
• A calm, patient manner with a positive can-do attitude.
• Experience assisting non-verbal students using visual aids such as PECs and Makaton would be advantageous.

Your Role:

• You will be working with the class teacher and other members of support staff to ensure that the pupil receives the care required to cater for their unique needs.
• You must be able to build trusting and meaningful relationships and ensure that they are engaged in learning and activities.
• This is a full-time role starting this September, we are looking for a committed and passionate teaching assistant who is looking to join a successful team of practitioners and really make a difference!
