Job Description

Cover Supervisors are needed for upcoming positions within a range of Secondary Schools in lower Monmouthshire. These roles can be day to day or long-term supply depending on school requirements.Welsh speakers are very sought after!This role offers an opportunity to work across a range of subjects and to develop leadership and organisational skills. The position is available to those who have worked within the British education sector and can demonstrate strong classroom / behaviour managementskills. Ideally the candidate would hold a Positive Behaviour Management certificate, but equivalent experience will also be considered on an individual basis. An ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working/volunteering with children in theUK / WelshEducation Sector
  • The ability to use their own initiative and adapt quickly in challenging situations
  • A passionate, committed and professional attitude with the ability to encourage learner engagement
  • A Positive Behaviour Management certificate (or equivalent experience)
  • Welsh Speaking skills are not essential but improve your options.
  • A full, valid UK driving licence
As a cover supervisor you would work across the school supervising classes in the absence of a member of staff. You would deliver work that has been set by a teacher and manage the classroom ensuring that all pupils remain on task. A cover supervisors roleisnot to teach you are there to guide the pupils through the work that has been left.Expectations:
  • Managing the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking class work to ensure a constructive environment
  • Carry out pre-prepared exercises in the short-term absence of the class teacher
  • Encouraging children to maximise their potential
  • Dealing with any issues or emergencies according to the schools policies and procedures ensuring the safety of yourself and the pupils in your care
  • Reporting back as appropriate using the schools agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising
