Job Description

Due to a continuing strong workload across a range of sectors within the UK and globally RPS EES are looking to recruit an explosives UXO Consultant (Researcher) to join our Chepstow based team.The role will centre around you conducting archival and desk-based research in order to collate accurate information for active UXO reportsThe purpose of the desktop studies will be to provide our client with an unbiased, defensible, repeatable and clearly defined mechanism for assessing the potential risk posed by UXO within their site.Key Responsibilities include

  • Gathering of historical data from various sources, including archives, books, and the internet
  • Analyse and interpret historical information to determine its authenticity and relevance to the subject matter
  • Compilation of relevant information in a coherent manner understandable to the audience
  • Proof-reading of professional documents
  • Report writing for delivery to clients
  • Your skills and experience You will join a busy, enthusiastic and supportive team and will experience a challenging and fulfilling working environment. As this role is research bias, a passion for history, preferably military history is a must.
  • Demonstratable experience with academic researching and report writing
  • GCSE: including English, Mathematics, Geography or History
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Organised and Methodical, you will need to manage changing objectives and multiple workflows
  • Basic understanding of UXO sources and risk (recognising defensive features and features of different UXO)
  • Good communication and presentation skills; you will be required to work with departments across the business and with stakeholders / clients at all levels

  • Membership of relevant professional organisation
  • A level or Degree level education within History or Geography
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS software
