Job Description

RPS is looking for a talented and passionate Bid / Proposal Manager to join our deeply experienced, multi-disciplinary team who are based across our London, Woking, Chepstow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh offices. Ideally you will be based out of our Chepstow office, but we have flexibility on location if required. By 2030 offshore wind is tipped to provide over one third of the UK’s energy supply. RPS has been there since the beginning, supporting our clients consent and undertake environmental assessments of these major energy infrastructure projects. With the new leasing rounds to be consented across the early 2020’s, there is plenty of work yet to be done.We provide a diverse range of technical consultancy and operational support globally to this growing sector, a diversity that is unparalleled in the professional services market for offshore wind. Our Marine Consenting and Environment Team deliver offshore renewable energy (offshore wind, wave and tidal energy, and green hydrogen), transmission infrastructure, and coastal/marine power generation and storage projects. Our Site Investigation team deliver geohazard, geotechnical and geophysical consultancy and operational support in these sectors, as does our Metocean Science and Technology teams.Your roleYou will work closely with our technical delivery, business development and marketing teams through the bid life cycle to deliver a compelling offer to our clients and help us win business. Key responsibilities will include

  • Project managing the bid process for major renewable bids
  • To ensure pre-qualification and tender documentation is prepared in accordance with Company’s lMS in consultation with appropriate teams.
  • Analysing bid documentation and capture activity to inform bid strategy and win themes
  • Implement a best practice bid process with gateway reviews and interfacing with bid management teams in our other RPS businesses
  • Providing expert guidance on bid management best practice
  • Developing written content, working alongside our subject matter experts (SMEs)
  • Producing high quality bid documents that are clear, concise and visually engaging
  • Provide project and contract handover information to Project managers in accordance with Companys IMS and support project managers with sales after care to Clients.
  • Analysing internal and external feedback to support continuous improvement
  • Ensure that all work is undertaken to the highest quality and professionalism in accordance with the company IMS and project specific documentation
  • Your skills and experienceYou will have experience of leading complex bids and providing expert bid coordination and management. You’ll be able to take ownership of the bid process and build solid relationships with collaborators to leverage capability and deliver high quality outputs. You will most likely have gained significant experience within a consulting, professional services, marine or construction organisation as a Bid Manager or similar.
  • Educated to degree level
  • APMP or other Bid/Project Management qualifications would be an advantage
  • Effective and confident communication and influencing skills at all levels, working within a team but also developing bid teams
  • Excellent bid writing skills with ability to present written information in a compelling structured and balanced way
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency within documents and compliance with tender requirements
  • Impeccable organisational and project management skills
  • A keen eye for good document design/layout
