Job Description

Nursery Deputy ManagerNurse Seekers are proud to be working on behalf of a private day nursery who are looking to recruit a Nursery Deputy Manager for their quality setting based near Chelsea. This is a fairly new setting which is easily accessible via public transport.Main duties and responsibilities

  • To be responsible for providing a high quality of education and learning, ensuring that staff are properly deployed, and to offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children attending the setting.
  • To ensure that staff are appropriately supported to carry out their role effectively, including the Early Years SENCO.
  • To ensure the weekly planning of activities and events is shared on a Rota basis by all staff and supported by the manager
  • To effectively supervise staff on a daily basis; to be responsible for monitoring the quality of teaching; to participate in staff appraisals and to identify in-service training needs.

  • To ensure that the welfare and safety of children is promoted within the setting and that any child protection concerns are always acted upon appropriately and immediately.
  • To ensure that accurate and up-to-date record keeping systems are in place e.g. children’s records of progress and any behavioural and development reports, any safeguarding issues, health and safety issues, notes taken at staff supervision meetings, detailsof targets set and of any performance concerns discussed.
  • To take responsibility for drawing up long-term, medium-term, and sessional curriculum plans which take into account the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and to monitor the effectiveness of the setting’s curriculum; this may includeworking with external professionals.
  • Ensure the staff adhere to the nursery policies
For this role you must have:
  • Level 3 childcare qualification plus managementORchildcare qualification of level 6 or above
  • A good understanding of EYFS.
  • A knowledge and understanding of child development.
  • A good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Awareness and understanding of equal opportunities.
  • An understanding of the needs and expectation of working parents
