Job Description

And, as you continue to grow your expertise, youll play a key role in the development of our Mid Essex OT Hub.The Deputy Team Manager (DTM) position is an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with a passion for development, to specialise in a career in social care management. The role is to support the manager with the oversight and running of the Mid OT Hubwhere Occupational Therapists sit integral with the Neighbourhood, focused teams and Discharge to Assess and are committed to improving the quality of life for the individuals they see.The Deputy Team manager post is a new and exciting opportunity to innovate and develop the strength of all OTs working in the Mid Hub, whilst supporting each OT to continue to develop their role and the significance of occupational therapy within their ownlocalised team. The post will continue to promote the principles and practice of OT, which makes our profession unique, whilst embracing the benefits to the adults, of our working within a localised and neighbourhood Multi-Disciplinary Approach.With sound experience of occupational therapy practice and a desire to mentor staff and manage individuals and team performance, the DTM will be able to build on strong working relationships with all the teams in Mid. The skill of the DTM will be to recognisewhere OT can positively make a difference and to support the OTs ongoing professional development and support the development of the wider team members in approaches and systems, that keeps activity and occupation central to the support we give to facilitatebest outcomes for the adults we see.Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing leadership and support across a team of professionals to deliver a high-quality service with positive outcomes which enables people to live healthily and independently.
  • Engaging in projects and initiatives to promote Occupational Therapy practice and develop services
  • Supporting the development of individuals with the team.
  • Delivering expertise and professional knowledge to provide advice and guidance for complex cases in line with legislative and organisational standards.
  • To support the and develop the use of activity within practice and support planning for all team member
  • Providing an escalation point feedback including compliments and complaints from adults in accordance with policy, in a way that fosters positive relationships.
  • Key will be the opportunity to influence effective approaches to integrated working with all partners, communities, and the voluntary sector to achieve successful outcomes for the adults we see.

  • Evidence of continuing professional development and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards.
  • Good knowledge of the Care Act.
  • Experience of leading change in a complex environment, and ensuring the organisation delivers best practice within financial constraints.
  • The ability to make clear decisions, to highlight and limit potential risks associated with intervention.
  • Experience as an Occupational Therapist in a social care setting with strong leadership skills and current HCPC registration.
  • A clear understanding of the development needs of Occupational Therapists working in Social Care and how the role of Occupational Therapy is integral to the work of the neighbourhoods and Focused team in which the Occupational Therapists are aligned.
  • Passion about the diversity of Occupational Therapy and the opportunities social care can bring to enable an Occupational Therapist to use approaches that deliver through prevention; early intervention; enablement and safeguarding.
This role involves travelling around Essex and beyond.
