Job Description

Accounts Assistant

  • Location: Chelmsford - hybrid working
  • Job Type: Full-time
We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our clients team, acting both individually and collaboratively to manage scheme bank accounts and prepare accounts for trust-based pension schemes. The ideal candidate will monitor and manage workloads effectivelyto meet the needs of both members and clients. Day to day of the role:
  • Daily input and/or authorisation of electronic bank payments.
  • Writing cheques and arranging for signatures as requested.
  • Paying in cheques received to the bank.
  • Inputting bank transactions onto the accounts system.
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations and historic cashflows as requested.
  • Submitting BACS files and downloading BACS reports.
  • Arranging audits and maintaining files for pension scheme annual accounts preparation for simple schemes.
  • Sending out year-end requests to investment managers and AVC providers.
  • Organising membership reconciliation from the administrator and updating the Trustees’ report.
  • Preparing draft report & accounts and liaising with auditors for clearance.
  • Liaising with Trustees for review and signature of accounts.
  • General administrative duties including filing, scanning, photocopying, telephone work, and data input.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Varied, general accounts experience, including proficiency with accounting software.
  • Good telephone manner with excellent communication and verbal skills.
  • Literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and cope with high volumes of work.
  • Must be a team player.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
  • Educated to GCSE grade C and above and/or Higher Education.
  • Working towards professional accountancy examinations is desirable.
