Job Description

Happy Building is seeking an architect to join its team in Cheam, UK.ArchitectHappy Building is looking to work with a highly motivated architect with a minimum of three years’ post-Part 3 UK experience. This is an opportunity to work on a range of interesting, small scale contemporary domestic residential projects, to manage a portfolio, and to oversee projects from inception to completion.What we offerThis is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious architect who wishes to advance their career. We also have other pressing priorities such as the personal development of each team member and their general wellness.The role is based at our Cheam office, working closely with the head of design to drive each of your project’s vision. Both back-end (design and planning) and front of house (client meetings) experience are essential.Job specifics:

  • carry out independently and confidently client brief meetings
  • carry our measured surveys and draw up existing drawings, where required
  • develop feasibility studies and present to clients
  • manage a portfolio of residential architectural projects on small and medium scale independently
  • experience in dealing with planning departments, knowledge of planning policies and submitting and managing planning applications
  • liaising with consultants
  • management of workflow and ability to multitask
  • participate actively in the growth and development of our emerging company
  • produce reports for the head of design department
    • Essential skills and requirements:
  • ARB registered with three years’ post-Part 3 UK experience
  • proven experience in small scale residential developments
  • creative design flair with good presentation skills, proven capability in delivering accurate drawings and a good knowledge of construction
  • ability to work independently to deadlines and project deliverables
  • proficiency in working with AutoCAD, Photoshop, Word and Excel is required
  • willingness to learn new software for workflow management and client communication
  • excellent communication skills and the ability to work remotely or in the office with the same ease
  • great client facing skills
  • living within a 30 minute distance commute from Happy Building’s office or intending to relocate
  • fluent in written and spoken English
  • excited to be part of driving a team which aims to deliver service and quality at a level which stands head and shoulders above the rest
  • ambitious, keen to improve personally as well as professionally
  • eligible to work in the UK
  • clean UK driving license (preferably)
