Job Description

Are you an Occupational Therapist looking for a new challenge, where you can be a part of meaningful change Join The Woodhouse in Workington and feel valued and support as you support people build a brighter future.Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, youll work alongside colleagues who provide person-centred care for people with a learning disability and/or Autism. Gaining experience across low secure and locked rehabilitation environments to support betterhealth and greater independence.You will have experience in managing a designated caseload using theoretical and practical experience as you will undertake assessments using the Model of Human Occupation (MoHo) framework and develop and implement a broad range of therapeutic interventions.As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist, youll create one-to-one rapport with service users as you create therapeutic programmes based on their interests and needs within the least restrictive practices. You provide opportunities for them to develop new skills,optimise functioning and maximise their quality of life, with the aim of them returning back to their community.With a strong emphasis on teamwork, youll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a variety of training courses to support you reach your career goals.We encourage and support vaccination uptake as this remains the best line of defence against COVID-19. As such, you will need to have had your Covid Vaccine to be eligible for this position.This role involves:

  • Attend multidisciplinary meetings, CPA meetings, peer discussions and facilitate both individual and group-based occupational therapy sessions
  • Contribute to the overall assessment, treatment and care
  • Contributing significantly to the development of the Occupational Therapy service carrying out service development projects as directed by the Lead Occupational Therapist
  • Undertaking delegated professional duties to ensure the effective and efficient running of the OT service
  • Acting as a visible, accessible presence to whom service users, colleagues, carers and family members can approach for assistance, support, advice and guidance
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of appropriate training for Occupational Therapy staff and the wider multidisciplinary team
To be successful in this role:
  • HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist
  • BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy
  • Experience of Occupational Therapy with people with learning disabilities and/or autism
  • Knowledge and practical experience of the Occupational Therapy process in a similar setting preferably adult inpatient services
  • Experience, knowledge and skill in supervising OT assistants and students
  • Ability to plan, facilitate and evaluate individual and group interventions with service users
  • Ability to apply practical skills and areas of interest within interventions
  • Ability to initiate and implement service development to improve the effectiveness of occupational therapy services
  • To be able to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of treatment strategies for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism
