Job Description

Engine / Motor Technology Teacher - Instructor required for a short term assignment, from now until Christmas this year, working for MKC Training, based at the Royal School of Military Engineering.This is a unique opportunity to teach small classes of committed military students, within excellent facitlities, theory and practical elements of petrol and diesel engines.Applicants must have Teaching and Assessing qualifications.Theory topics include:

  • Engine construction details and operation
  • 2 and 4-stroke cycles, fuel systems (Petrol and Diesel)
  • Diesel engine technology to include in-line and rotary fuel injection pumps, common-rail fuel systems, injectors
  • Cooling systems, lubrication systems, exhaust and emission control and pressure charging
  • Practical knowledge and experience with the following engines is highly desirable not but essential:
  • Land Rover 2.25 litre 4 cyl petrol (carburettor fuel system)
  • Perkins 400 Series (4 cyl, 2.25 litre, naturally aspirated)
  • Perkins 1000 Series (4 cyl, 3.99 litre, turbocharged).
  • These engines are completely stripped and rebuilt to running condition and trainees will have to be guided and supervised throughout the procedures.In addition, delivery of theory elements of associated, generic mechanical engineering topics; Bearings, filters, seals and pumps is required utilising ‘standard’ pre-prepared presentations / resources. Assessment of trainee performance and report writing is also required.MKC Training Services Ltd is an equal opportunities employer.
