Were all here to make a positive difference to people with learning disabilities and/or autism in Somerset. Here at Discovery we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our Support Worker team in Chard and Crewkerne.Discovery exists to help each person we support to live a fulfilling life, to be equal in society and to be active in his or her local community. Thats a big deal. It means being able to have choice and control in life. It means choosing to go out or tostay in, making friends and having relationships, finding and developing skills and interests. It also means managing a home, voting, staying healthy and being able to pursue employment or volunteering opportunities. If you think you can help the people wesupport get more from life, we want to hear from you.Discovery is proud to be one of the very few social care organisations that are members of the Great Places To Work programme 2021.About the role:As a Support Worker in the Domiciliary Care Team, you will be supporting two women and one gentleman with learning disabilities and additional health needs to live independently in their own homes which are in Chard and Crewkerne. Each person we supportlive in separate homes but all need one to one support to do things like going out to access the local town or shopping centre to do their weekly shop, keep their homes clean and tidy and support them with daily life tasks. Its not just the normal daily livingtasks that you will be supporting with though as each person we support have their own interests and things they enjoy doing such as swimming, attending weekly classes or simply people watching in the local pub with a pint!As part of the domiciliary care team, you will support across the three homes in the Chard and Crewkerne are working shifts and you will also need to do at a minimum one sleep a week. It is really important to the people we support to be involved in theirsupport and rotas and often we find that they may prefer to have particular people to support them at any one time, so it will be imperative to the role that you can be flexible to these wishes.Non drivers will also be considered as not essential to the role if based in Chard or Crewkerne.
