Job Description

Production Manager - Chard, Somerset - £50,000 to £60,000 plus benefits, up to 10% bonus and a leading pension schemeMelbreck Technical are working with a world leading designer and manufacturer of special purpose equipment that is used in multiple industries.Due to planned growth within their technical manufacturing team, they are looking to hire a production manager to join them ASAP.Production Manager - Job Role:To be responsible for the safe operation of the manufacturing location enabling it to hit it’s operational excellence and profitably targets.To develop and deliver a world class operation through the use of Automation and continuous improvement.Constantly helping the business to drive forward whilst instigating challenging cost reduction and operation improvement programmes with a focus on driving product complexity reduction and reduced lead times.Production Manager - Responsibilities:Ensure that all Health and Safety and Environmental guidelines are followed, including maintaining (and improving were possible) via 5S standards and regular reviews of risk assessments and associated PPE.Managing the value streams’ performance and budgets in line with the goals & objectives to achieve safety & financial targets, customer requirements and other group site KPIsTo be accountable for the site tracking centre and will ensure that all value stream & Kaizen tracking centre and team improvement boards are maintained and used to drive continuous improvement.Resourcing and managing the performance process and activities of team members.Ensure all value stream team members are trained and work in accordance / compliance with Standard Work, risk assessments and quality system documented procedures.Support business growth through active participation and support of the new product introduction process and preparation of the manufacturing operation for launch and continuing production.Support and lead customer strategic initiativesMaintain profit improvement plan (PIP) Site Savings road maps, productivity action and tracking files.Develop current & future Value Stream maps.To be responsible for materials management team ensuring stock control, inventory, supplier & in-house forecasting in partnership with strategic sourcing, expediting supplier issues, etc.Production Manager - Candidate Requirements:Organised with strong analytical, logical and methodical thinking and attention to detail.Educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Manufacturing discipline, or equivalent experience.Experience of managing and successfully leading a cross-functional team.Strong business acumen with good understanding of financial measurements.A confident communicator and team player with highly developed verbal and written skills, adept at partnering across business functions.Demonstrated ability to achieve significant results through lean principles including value stream mapping, single piece flow, 5s, visual management etc.Experienced in the use of effective problem-solving tools and techniquesStrong understanding of Quality Control & Quality AssuranceProactive and positive can-do attitudeEffective at managing and prioritising multiple tasks simultaneously through competent resource management.Production Manager - Hours and Benefits:37.5 hours Monday to Friday with Friday being a half day10% Bonus25 Days holiday plus bank holidaysIndustry Leading pension scheme paying up to 15%If you are looking to join a forward-thinking business that values it’s colleagues then click apply now and start your application!
