Realise South West, is our award winning specialist learning disabilities service providing essential LD care to individuals in need of support in their own homes. We’re looking to expand our team of Positive Behaviour Support Workers in the chard area. As a Support Worker you’ll be joining a fantastic team committed to empowering those with challenging behaviours and/or mental illness. It’s so important for us to make a difference to peoples lives, support and encourage their independence and enable them to lead fulfilling lifestyles. It’s what we do best. Often our customers require two to one care, so you will work alongside your colleagues to provide continuity in care that supports their overall wellbeing. This role is to will assist a lady in her own home, please see below: I am an active 27 year old autistic lady with a diagnosis of PTSD who lives in Chard. I am looking for an experienced Positive Behaviour Support Worker to support me to feel safe in my environment. I am looking for a dedicated, loyal staff member whom I can build a working relationship based on trust. I need my support staff to be understanding, supportive, and patient and have experience with challenging behaviour. I need my support staff to also have the ability to stay calm under pressure. To support this customer you will be working on a 3 week rota, covering days and typically working 7am – 10pm on 2 or 3 days per week (including some weekends). The option of Sleep In shifts is also available. If you’ve got flexibility in your working week then we can discuss various shift patterns with you so please do give us a call. About you Experience with Learning Disabilities or Mental Health support for adults or children, either through employment or your own personal experiences is required for this role. Recognised care certificates such as NVQ or CQF are desirable but not essential as we can offer training from day one and fantastic career pathways to develop you to gain these qualifications. Behaviour is often a way of communicating, so one of your most successful skills will be the ability to engage, listen and communicate with people successfully in a variety of ways. Importantly you’ll understand the complexity of working with challenging behaviours and understand the need to be highly flexible, adaptable and resilient, which in return will unlock and incredibly rewarding career for you. You’ll be warm hearted, friendly and have a natural desire to help. You’ll be a real ‘people person’, able to build lasting relationships and of course work well in a team.
