Job Description

Materials ScientistChard, Somerset - Permanent, Full time position £40,000 - £55,000 depending on experienceWe are looking for a Materials Scientist to join an iconic British Company who operate on a global presence, from their site in Chard, this role is based on site. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company who continue to expand and invest heavilyin their R&D facility!This is an exciting new role for our client; you will look at how to replace current production materials with new sustainable materials. What will you do
  • Develop, support, investigate materials and work within R&D Technology group
  • Maintain and improve current products with regards to materials selection
  • Application of cost effective and sustainable materials into products
  • Support development of sustainable, environmentally friendly, recyclable, biodegradable materials.
  • Market research, trend analysis, database parameters update and revision regarding sustainability materials Testing equipment selection within desired goals and parameters
  • Carry out tests, write reports and create documentation
  • Communicate effectively with work colleagues and important stakeholders
What skills and experience will the Materials Scientist need
  • BSc / MSc in Materials or equivalent with Working Experience matching expectations of role
  • 3 years + experience of working within a scientific/engineering research setting
  • Experienced in materials selection, testing and evaluation methods
  • Good knowledge of market structure and trends in development and application of more environmentally friendly/sustainable materials
  • Results orientated with attention to detail and understanding of the business with scientific investigation environment
  • Proven capability to learn and implement new skills and processes
  • Good communication, strong organisational and excellent analytical skills
  • A flexible approach to working to meet project deadlines
  • Work closely and provide initiative with other company members that works on sustainability goals
