Job Description

A leading rail company, based in the City, are seeking an interim Finance Business Partner to join their expanding finance team on an initial 6-month contract due to increased workload.This Finance Business Partner role will be required to produce high quality forecasts and analysis to support business decision making, as part of their newly created business strategy.This Finance Business Partner will report to the FP&A Manager in what will be a pivotal role to support business leaders in driving financial accountability.This role will be joining a high-performing team which is focused on delivering on its commitments by doing basics rights and building strong relationships and partnerships.Day to Day Responsibilities of this Finance Business Partner role:

  • Production of periodic analytical reporting to meet business area requirements and utilization of technology to automate and drive standard and efficiency where possible
  • Completion of high-quality forecasts, budgets & corporate plans to required deadlines
  • Improve business performance through provision of insightful analysis of business activities
  • Build budgets and forecasts that take into account business performance and strategy
  • Act as business change agent, through implementation and maintenance of continuous improvement strategy and culture
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve the profitability of business activities detailing a sound understanding of revenue, cost base and company model
  • When required be internal advisor/consultant to the business to support decision making through financial analysis of business cases
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Fully Qualified Accountant, ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent will be considered.
  • Degree qualification
  • Strong working knowledge of financial systems/data warehouses (Oracle/TM1)
  • Experience within the rail or transport industry highly desirable
  • Significant experience in a commercial finance and planning environment including time spent in an analytical role in a large business.
  • Skilled in influencing at all stakeholder levels and presenting & explaining complex financial issues to non-finance personnel.
  • Must have strong commercial awareness and show understanding of opportunities, issues and events that may have a longer-term impact
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • High level quantitative, analytical and financial modelling skills
