Job Description

Transport Yard Foreman - Days(6am-4pm)M31 4QNCarrington (Greater Manchester)Saica Menzies Distribution are looking for an experiencedYard Foreman to Supervise and support an effective operational process, which ensures the efficiency of our shunting operation and supports our working relationship with the 3PL who manage the warehouseoperation. You will also ensuring that all operational processes and compliances are adhered to.   • Ensure the application of the business key standards are maintained.
  • Establish, monitor and maintain agreed performance levels for all shunting/yard activity.
  • Liaise, support and develop effective working relationships with internal logistics.
  • Bay control, ensuring efficient way of working.
  • Ensure efficient flow of trailers throughout the site.
  • Work closely with the team, ensuring clarity and consistency in all we do.
  • Ensuring efficient and effective delivery and implementation of all aspects of the site operational requirements.
  • Maintain a safe working environment which complies with all aspects of the companys H&S policy.
  • Support the shunting operation where required.
  • Monitor the activities of the team to ensure that time is not being lost in the warehouse/yard.
  • Suggestions of improvements that can be made to the shunting operation on nights.
  • Ensure all environmental control measures are in place and effective.
  • Establish and maintain a harmonized people focused team-working environment.
  • General Housekeeping.
  • Assist with the nightly trailer check.
  • Support the night team leader with general transport office duties.
Requirements:
  • Right To Work in the UK
  • Excellent computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Word & Excel)
  • Previous administration experience.
  • Good numeric skillsincluding accuracy.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills
  • Good level of financial understanding
  • Flexibility
  • Help maintain a motivating focused team environment.
  • Enthusiastic and energetic personality
  • Enjoys working to deadlines
  • Ability to work on own initiative, demonstrates organizational skills
