Job Description

Senior Structural Engineer – Cardiff£38,000 - £45,000 + Package An internationally recognised engineering consultancy is now looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to bolster it’s team in CardiffAbout the Role:This role is to work as part of the growing building structures team, taking a lead role in project work, focused on team management, design document production & delivery, client and stakeholder liaison.On a day to day basis the role would be working with Civil & Structural Engineering teams to help deliver work on some of the most challenging and high profile projects within the industry and through collaboration with unique specialist services teams helping to bring added value to the projects they deliver for their clients. These roles are key to the ongoing success of the business and will help build towards delivery of a growing order book.What you’ll be doing:

  • Liaising closely with Architects and other co-professionals during project delivery stages.
  • Preparing and running FEA analysis of Floor plates and total building models in various software.
  • Ability to justify complex structural behaviours in FEA via simple approximate hand calculations.
  • Production of calculations in Eurocode including QA, technical reviews and sign off.
  • Production of Design Development notes to succinctly express design principles to the extended team
  • Liaise with the CAD department to ensure that drawings are created to company standards with the correct level of detail and delivered in a timely manor
  • Production of design and Specifications to meet the project requirements
  • Attend internal and external projects design team meetings and be able to deal with the day to day queries from site
  • Manage projects utilising appropriate guidance and tools.
  • Assist in the project lifecycle documentation – QA, CDM, Archiving etc. and coach more junior colleagues in their use.
    • The candidate must have excellent inter-personal skills, with good leadership potential capable of communicating effectively with other members of the project team and stakeholders. The candidate is expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for delivery of excellence in high-rise and other challenging building projectsPreferred criteria:
  • Degree (BEng/MEng or similar)
  • Working towards Chartered status (MIStructE/MICE)
  • High rise experience (desirable)
  • Transfer structure experience
  • Competent Engineer who is comfortable working on a project with limited assistance, with a track record in supervising designs produced by junior colleagues
  • Experience of Software ETABS, SAP2000, Ram Structural systems, Ram Concept and REVIT
