Job Description

What you’ll be doingWe are looking to recruit a motivated and experienced senior web developer that can work with a number of languages and systems but primarily CFML/MSSQL.You will be involved in development of national systems for clinical staff, patients and the public, and will work on existing and new dynamic websites using a combination of in-house and open source software components. For example, creating frontend layouts and responsive web portals, coding using MVC frameworks, and developing web services to receive/transfer data. You will also be expected to create and maintain documentation.As a hands-on senior web developer you will use your experience of working with a variety of different web technologies to help shape and deliver first-class, multi device web solutions. You will also be able to mentor more junior developers and value software craftsmanship where coding is done the right way.What we are looking forThe ideal candidate will have proven experience and skills in the following areas but we will also accept applications from candidates who can demonstrate an aptitude to develop and learn these essential skills quickly: -

  • ColdFusion/Lucee (CFML)
  • .NET/PHP
  • Responsive Design
  • Strong understanding and experience of working with Microsoft SQL Server/MySQL and T-SQL
  • HTML, CSS (LESS / SASS) and JavaScript/jQuery
  • MVC framework
  • Work to best practices in source code management, using source control tools and the standard processes
  • Code peer review to improve the quality of software development
  • Work independently, help others and ask for help without hesitation
  • Strong communication skills and self-management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • You will also have a strong desire to develop your skills in: -
  • Software Development Life Cycle preferably using Agile methodologies such as SCRUM
  • Database source control
  • .NET/CFML
  • OOP, unit testing and software design patterns
  • Test Driven Development
  • DevOps
  • Powershell
  • Web Accessibility and Security
