Job Description

Platform Resourcing are currently working with a leading manufacturing company who are looking to expand their team by taking on a Senior Accountant based in St Mellons, Cardiff. The is a permanent role which is a totally new position for the business that is required as a result of significant growth across all departments.Senior Accountant Benefits:

  • Salary of up to £45,000 plus 10% yearly bonus
  • Yearly bonus - paid every April
  • Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (flexible with start and finish times)

Senior Accountant Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work closely with procurement to review and understand weekly PPV
  • Understanding & updating standard costs
  • Monitor and review weekly manufacturing variances by understanding Bills of material
  • Attend monthly/quarterly stock counts both on & offsite
  • Analyse and understand stock movements/adjustments
  • Chair monthly stock meetings to discuss stock take results and drive improvements to stock accuracy
  • Monthly stock reconciliation & reporting to include understanding and calculation of provisions
  • Journal posting & Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Completion of Quarterly VAT returns
  • Assisting with any internal/external audit requirements
Senior Accountant Essential Experience/Qualifications
  • Experience within a Senior Accounting position, preferably within a manufacturing, engineering, or construction firm.
  • Fully qualified Accountant with two years minimum experience within an accounting role whether that be Accountant, Management Accountant or Financial Controller etc.
  • Experience of completing VAT returns, reconciliation of accounts, analysis as well as month-end and year end reporting.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge with ability to improve and develop reports using own
  • Experience of using and ERP/ MRP system would be advantageous.
