Job Description

Senior Payroll Officer - to £40,000Department: Law Firm - Accounts DepartmentLocation: Cardiff Office - Hybrid WorkingPackage:

Background:The payroll function is a vital part of our accounts team. As the successful candidate, you will not only be responsible for accurate payroll processing for around 600 employees but also play a crucial role in monthly analysis, pay reconciliations, administrationof expenses and other benefits, and management of the Company Pension scheme. Additionally, you will collaborate with the HR Department and Independent Financial Advisors to ensure seamless coordination.The Role:As the Senior Payroll Officer, your responsibilities include:
  • Accurately processing a monthly payroll for approximately 600 employees, including RTI submissions.
  • Administering pension and salary sacrifice schemes.
  • Handling payroll queries from colleagues.
  • Liaising with pension and system providers as necessary.
  • Ensuring that the system is regularly updated to meet statutory requirements, and performing year-end functions.
  • Pursuing ongoing training to stay up-to-date with the latest knowledge and statutory changes, implementing them accordingly.
  • Managing payroll-related projects, such as the implementation of salary sacrifice benefits and flexible benefits.
  • Reconciling monthly payroll and pension reports, including Payroll Journals.
  • Processing monthly expenses and administering benefit schemes.
  • Completing year-end returns (P11ds).
  • This is a full-time position with the opportunity for remote work after an initial training period under our hybrid arrangements.
Required Experience/ Skills:We welcome applications from experienced payroll processors with a strong understanding of statutory requirements related to tax and pensions. The role requires accuracy, approachability, and excellent communication skills.Experience using iTrent is advantageous but not mandatory.Essential Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an end-to-end Payroll Manager.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK Payroll Legislation.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with iTrent software.
  • Experience in introducing various benefits.
