Job Description

Our banking client is now looking to appoint the challenging position of Head of Financial Risk to from part of the second line of defence risk team. Reporting to the Head of Risk you will be responsible for the design, delivery and continual improvement of effective oversight & assurance of the modelling and reporting of financial risks. You will provide guidance and expert judgement to support the development of policies, procedures and risk appetites in the first line. Further responsibilities include...

  • Own, deliver and enhance a clear financial risk oversight framework linking risk appetite, risk assessments, policies and procedures.
  • Delivery and continual improvement of the financial risk assurance plan based on risk- based assessments of the key areas
  • Support and challenge the business in the development of financial risk management policies
  • Design and execute robust risk oversight and challenge to the functions responsible for managing financial risks
  • Provision and presentation of insightful reports on the status of financial risks
  • Lead second line representation at committee on matters of financial risk
  • Conduct thematic reviews and lessons learned reviews into selected areas of financial risk
  • Manage the relationships of any external support required
    • The Person:
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of financial risk methodologies, principles and internal controls within the Financial Services sector
  • Have technical expertise in the fields of capital, liquidity, interest rate risk management, stress testing, auditing and finance
  • The ability to produce and present quality and exacting material for senior management and risk committees to digest
  • Ability to forge mutually beneficial relationships with business unit managers
  • Strong negotiator and influencer
  • Knowledge of Basel regimes
