£18,775 per year (£29,870 full time equivalent)22 hours per weekCardiff Office base or home based within WalesRNIBs Children, Young People, Families and Education Service are part of RNIB services working with families, young people and education professionals directly to ensure that individuals aged 0-25 with vision impairment are able to access the same opportunitiesas their peers and realise their true potential.This role is an exciting opportunity to join our frontline team of Family Support Officers around the UK ensuring a high quality, responsive and knowledgeable support service is offered.We actively encourage applicants with lived experience of sight loss to apply for this role.What youll be doingDrawing on your knowledge, skills and experience of supporting children, young people and families, you will provide a superb frontline service. This will involve ensuring the advice, information and guidance you provide is accurate, up to date and reflectingbest practice. The role will require you to lead on training for parents and run events for families. The role also offers the opportunity to respond to need and propose new resources which would benefit young people with vision impairment. You will work creativelywith managers and young people themselves to codevelop and deliver our events; whether virtual or face to face.With knowledge and experience of this area, you will have an appreciation of the issues facing children and young people and will know how best to support them and their families to navigate and advocate for themselves. This post is home based in Wales orour Cardiff office and could involve some travelling throughout the UK.Were particularly looking for candidates that are team players, empathic, enthusiastic and able to showcase excellent facilitation and communications skills.
