Job Description

Electronics Engineer (Analogue, Digital, Embedded, C++, Medical)Cardiff£40k - £45kMy client is a growing medical devices company with a novel product that is making a significant contribution to improvements in electrosurgery.As they seek to develop a further generation of products and systems, they are entering a new phase of Research and Development and now seek an additional permanent Electronics Engineer to provide technical input into all aspects of design projects.ResponsibilitiesPCB & Hardware design

  • Excellent digital design skills; in simulation, prototype and practical implementation.
  • Excellent Analogue circuit design skills
  • Experience of analogue amplification and signal conditioning/filter circuitry.
  • Design of Op-Amp stages such as differential amplifiers, integrators etc.
  • PCB layout/schematic capture skills and experience with CAD simulation packages
  • Excellent digital hardware knowledge - logic and 8-16-bit Microcontrollers (e.g.PIC Processors)
  • Fault finding to component level on analogue, digital and embedded electronic board layouts
  • Build and test of own prototype electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies.
    • Programming
  • Design and develop software to interface with analogue & digital circuits using embedded programming skills such as C/C++, or assembly language
  • An appreciation of real-time embedded firmware would be desirable.
    • Documentation
  • Compilation of electronic, firmware and software design documentation.
  • Creating and execution of test protocols and associated reports.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, design tolerance analysis and other risk management techniques an advantage.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques and advantage.
  • Device selection - Interpretation of datasheets and knowledge of design methods to confidently select the lowest cost devices while achieving reliability targets.
    • Qualifications / Experience
  • BEng/MEng degree in Electronic Engineering, or other relevant discipline, or a demonstrable level of industrial experience in a relevant industry.
  • At least 5-yrs design & development experience in roles involving both analogue and embedded digital electronics
  • Experience of working in the medical device industry or other regulated sector is an advantage.
