  • The PSHE Teacher position is a pivotal role at a crucial time of change for this school. I am looking for an experienced PSHE Teacher with an engaging, creative personality who has a strong ability to build rapport with vulnerable students. Knowledge of and experience teaching the PSHE curriculum is vital in this position.The ethos at this Camden based school, revolves around providing a fresh start and encouraging students to see and achieve their own potential. All pupils attending will have experienced challenges in mainstream schools prior to attending. Upon coming to this specialist provision, students are offered more flexible and creative pathways for education and training.Support at the school ranges from short term programmes supporting reintegration to mainstream, to long-term provision and vocational pathways across two sites in Camden. The main reason most pupils attend the school is due to their complex social, emotional and mental health needs. Challenging behaviour is a common presentation of these needs. Many students are also referred with EHCPs for Learning and Cognition and/or Social Communication and Interaction needs.The PSHE Teacher role has been created as part of the schools redevelopment of their curriculum. In seeking to better meet the pupils neds, the curriculum will now cover 3 key areas: core subjects, vocational subjects and personal development. Personal development will cover PSHE with the aim of supporting these pupils with Complex SEMH needs to make positive life choices after they leave school. The right candidate for the role will be an inspirational role model, able to set a positive example, build a strong positive rapport with pupils and make the content relative and engaging for this unique cohort.The PSHE Teacher will:
  • Play a vital role in the re-development of the school curriculum to revolve around the 3 pillars of core subjects, vocational subjects and Personal Development
  • Teach PSHE and Personal Development at the KS4 site in Camden
  • Prepare units for Teaching and Support staff to deliver
  • Support the teaching team by creating/reviewing resources and promoting best practise
  • Have experience with BTEC Vocational Studies
  • Experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs
  • Have experience working in a school setting and managing challenging behaviour
  • Strong understanding of societal inequalities and barriers to learning
  • Education and training in pastoral support, behaviour management and attachment
  • A genuine passion for supporting marginalised youth, patience and professionalism
