Job Description

Band 7 – Translational Scientist – CD34 Product Cell GMP Manufacture - Gene and Cell TherapyWard/Department: Gene and Cell Therapy (Medicines, Molecules and Tests)Why we are recruiting: Would you like to join a dynamic environment at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (GOS ICH) and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust (GOSH) develops novel therapies for rare childhood diseases. The facility has a manufacturing licence to manufacture investigational medicinal products (IMP) and works to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMPThis service is expanding with the opening of a new cGMP facility in the Zayed Centre for Research (ZCR). This post will support cutting edge research at the interface between science and clinical medicine, in a unit with an excellent track-record in both basic and translational science. The post will primarily be involved in manufacturing CD34+ stem cell investigational medicinal gene and cell therapy products (IMPs) that will be used to treat paediatric patients with rare diseases. Autologous transplant of lentiviral vector gene corrected haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) ATMP is used to treat a variety of primary immune deficiency (PID) diseases.What we can offer:The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in state of the art facilities on the manufacture of haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) advanced therapeutic medicinal products (ATMPs). You will work with a dedicated and highly motivated team of scientists. The team is being expanded to develop an increasing portfolio of gene therapy medicines and platforms that can develop products and be translated into clinic. The successful candidate will coordinate project activities that cover various aspects of pre-clinical translational research projects.
