TPD for Academic Foundation programmes supporting trainees in London Foundation SchoolsThe appointee will be responsible for overall stewardship of the AFPs across the two London North schools and those in South Thames Foundation School located in South London hospitals and will work to establish increased uniformity and standardisation across the schools delivering a world class education and training programmeAcademic Foundation programmesThere are currently 127 programmes across London and Kent Surrey and Sussex, of which 106 would be managed by this role.AFPs have a specific 4 month academic F2 post within a generic 2 year foundation programme with 5 other clinical placements, balanced to enable acquisition of foundation competences. In F1 year the placements can be at any of the schools constituent Trusts. They are recruited in a separate stream from the standard FPCurrently in the North there are two separate schools although initial plans are being drawn up for one Pan London foundation school from 2022.North West London Foundation SchoolNorth West London AFP is based largely at Imperial College London and Imperial Healthcare partners. Through partnership with linked local trusts research and teaching are underpinned by a wide-ranging clinical environment. There are extensive research interests including translational research, cardiology, endocrinology and metabolism genomics, neurosciences, primary care, and gastroenterologyThere are 24 academic foundation posts which may include: academic public health, endocrinology, hepatology, psychiatry, general practice, nuclear medicine and clinical pharmacology.
