Job Description

Senior Scala Engineer - Global Media Organisation We have partnered with a Global Media Broadcast Organisation to find a Senior Scala Engineer who is passionate about technology with a keen enthusiasm for Scala and its ecosystem.Their teams are cross-functional and agile, and strive to follow Continuous Delivery practices, and their teams contain embedded Platform Engineers to support this goal. They promote a DevOps culture and expect our developers to get involved with the testing and operation of our services and systems.Key Experience

  • Strong Scala development skills and knowledge of Scala ecosystem
  • Good knowledge of pure functional programming in Scala with libraries such as Cats
  • Good knowledge of at least one other programming language
  • Knowledge of testing techniques and strategies
  • Good holistic understanding of microservice architecture patterns
  • Experience with operational concerns, build tools, and deployment practices
  • Experience with messaging systems such as SQS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka
  • Experience with both relational and NoSQL data stores, such as PostgreSQL, Redis, and DynamoDB.
  • Experience with cloud service providers, particularly AWS.
  • Unix command line and systems administration
  • Diagnosis of functional and performance problems
  • Excellent team communication skills
  • Strong ability to work with others and support less experienced colleagues
