Job Description

The Global CCS Institute is an international think tank whose mission is to accelerate the deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS), a vital technology to tackle climate change and deliver climate neutrality.With a team of almost 40 professionals working with and on behalf of our Members, we drive the adoption of CCS as quickly and cost effectively as possible by sharing expertise, building capacity and providing advice and support so that this vital technology can play its part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We are headquartered in Melbourne, Australia with regional offices in Washington DC, Houston, London, Brussels, Beijing and Tokyo.We are seeking a Senior Consultant Economics, to join our newly created Policy, Legal and Regulatory team on an ongoing, full-time basis.Based in London, you will report to the Principal Consultant Policy, Legal and Regulatory. Operating globally, you will support the broader Commercial team’s delivery of fee for service work and Member services. You will also assist in the development of thought leadership reports and our flagship publication, the Status Report. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Delivery of consultancy services to clients and Members;
  • Providing market-valued, authoritative insights and analysis into CCS technology, markets, trends and industry practices;
  • Producing and publishing materials about CCS issues; and
  • Provide expertise and support for advocacy activities, including thought leadership outputs.
  • This role works closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Therefore, it is essential you can build and maintain strong relationships and are positive, proactive and thorough in your approach to your work. To be successful in this role, your skills and experience will ideally include:
  • Expertise in economics as applied to energy and climate change, gained from a range of difference sectors or industries;
  • Strong technical writing skills;
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining energy/economic models; and
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and understand the economic impacts of actual or proposed policy.
