We are seeking a hands-on, Principal Engineer to lead our Content squad (4 direct reports), the team behind Tes News and a number of education related microsites, which receive over 7 million views per day.The most important aspect of your role is to enable delivery through your squad members. To achieve this you will strive to appreciate their strengths and potential, providing technical expertise when needed, but also the autonomy essential for personal development and job satisfaction. You will further support your team members career growth through mentoring and regular performance reviews.As Principal, you will report to the VP of Engineering, be the key interface between the Content squad and wider Tes engineering community and work closely with the product owner to refine, prioritise and communicate requirements.This is a hands-on role, and you will be responsible for the software design and development of Tes CMS platform (a combined Drupal / Node.js microservice architecture), ensuring it continues to meet the changing requirements of the business and driving towards providing content management as a service.
