Job Description

Network EngineerContractLondon (Remote)A global cyber security and intelligence firm is searching for a high calibre Network Engineer to lead join an existing delivery team within a Central Government client. As Network Engineer you will operate as a key component within an Azure team, supporting up to 1,000+ developers and their enabling infrastructure.As Network Engineer you will have responsibility for delivering and maintaining cloud-based network infrastructure as part of a lifecycle of environment provisioning for internal development. You will work with network virtual appliances, cloud fabric and 3rd party tools to ensure a healthy, performant and secure. You will also provide 4th line support for our physical/on-premise network infrastructure.Responsibilities for the Network Engineer include:

  • Implementing and developing cloud based network infrastructure
  • Web application firewalls
  • Web proxies
  • Network Virtual Appliances (Fortinet FortiGate-VM, Palo Alto VM-Series, Cisco Cloud Services Routers)
  • Azure ExpressRoute
  • Fabric routing and security controls (Azure UDR, Network Security Groups)
  • Proactively develop automation techniques that can deliver network configuration as part of an integrated environment
  • Provisioning and change process
  • Routine maintenance of deployed network infrastructure to maintain security and healthy running of the environment
  • Performance monitoring, management and recommendations for improvement where needed
  • Incident management to maintain the environment to availability and performance SLAs
  • Configuration compliance management
  • System documentation
  • Provide support to our teams to enable rapid environment provisioning, configuration change and project delivery
  • Work as part of a shift and on-call rota to provide a 24x7 service
    • Essential Skills and Experience Required:
  • Experience of developing, deploying and routine maintenance of cloud based network virtual appliances using at least two of the following technologies: (Pal Alto/ Fortinet Firewalls)
  • Microsoft Azure network and security technologies
  • Experience of developing, deploying and routine maintenance of Azure and AWS native network infrastructure and security controls
  • Experience of developing, deploying and routine maintenance of on-premise network infrastructure, primarily based on
  • Cisco and Palo Alto-based technology
  • Maintaining system availability through highly available cloud-based network infrastructure to strict SLAs
  • Highly professional network infrastructure management covering availability, performance, and incident/fault resolution
  • Ability to deliver within an Agile organisation, whilst ensuring adherence to committed delivery milestones
  • Robust documentation and change control experience in a highly dynamic environment
  • Experience of working as part of an international team
  • Automation techniques using Terraform, Ansible and Puppet;
  • Administration of AWS / Azure

  • Physical network infra management
