GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN NHS FOUNDATION TRUSTAND THE INSTITUTE OF CHILD HEALTHBODY, BONES AND MIND DIRECTORATELOCUM CONSULTANT IN PAEDIATRIC UROLOGY posts (10 PA’s)The Great Ormond Street Hospital Urology service is seeking to appoint a 10 PA’s Locum Consultant Surgeon in Urology based at Great Ormond Street Hospital whilst also providing services at University College London Hospital. They will join the existing team of 6 Consultant Paediatric Urologists and 1 Associate Specialists as part of the Urology Department, in the Body, Bones and Mind Directorate at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. This position is a locum appointment with no on-call commitment.The post will have responsibility alongside the consultant team to provide a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient service for children with urological disorders across both sites. Alongside a fixed time table of commitments the appointee will be expected to utilise vacant operating lists whenever possible to do so to maximise theatre utilisation and operating capability for the service.The Great Ormond Street Urology Department is the largest Paediatric Urology Department in the UK. It has a reputation for clinical excellence particularly in the fields of complex bladder reconstruction, bladder exstrophy, DSD, stones and oncology. Within GOSH, the department has close links with many others, most notably with nephrology, radiology, endocrinology and oncology. In addition there is a specialist Urodynamics Service led by an Associate Specialist with a team of 5 Clinical Nurse Specialists.The Department has established collaboration with UCLH and is moving towards a virtual single Unit between the two sites, with shared on call and Junior Medical Staff. Patients are moved between sites according to clinical demands and in this way both Units have become interdependent. The department has training recognition from the JCPU of the ESPU for three training posts in Paediatric Urology– the only Unit in Europe to do so.Possible interview date: 12th November 2020.All applicants must with either be on the General Medical Council’s specialist register or be within six months of obtaining their CCST/CCT award at the time of application.All applicants should return their application forms electronically.
