Locum Consultant in Paediatric Infectious DiseasesApplications are invited for a 12 month 8 PA Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Disease Consultant post based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. Applications will also be considered from those wishing to work part time or on a job share basis.This is an exciting opportunity to join the paediatric infectious diseases team at Great Ormond Street Hospital covering all aspects of inpatient and outpatient care of infectious disease patients as well contributing to the evolving antimicrobial stewardship and sepsis programme as well as the management and follow up of COVID and PIMS-TS patients.The department deals with over 3000 patient episodes per year. Referrals to the department are received from North Central and North East London as well as Southern England.The inpatient ward (Pelican Ward) is shared with rheumatology and dermatology and includes Hepa-filtered, air flow controlled cubicles with negative pressure isolation facilities. There are close working relationships between the Immunology, Infectious Diseases, microbiology and BMT clinical teams.The Infectious Diseases Consultant team currently comprises of 3.1 WTE consultants. This will increase to 3.9 including this appointment. Our middle grade staff (3-4SpRs and 1 SHO in general paediatrics, 1-2 national GRID trainees in Immunology/ID and 3 trust fellows and 1 senior ID fellow) provide the direct inpatient care to the patients at GOSH under immunology, ID and BMT but also for the consult service across the trust. There are also 2 Clinical Nurse Specialists within the ID team.This post involves Monday-Thursday on call (non-resident) for Infectious Diseases patients when attending, and currently involves a 1:5 weekend on call (non-resident) rota. Attendance at the hospital on weekends is expected when on call.Applicants are expected to be MRCHP/MRCHPCH qualified, and have extensive experience in general paediatrics as well as evidence of experience in Immunology and Infectious Diseases.Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust is a postgraduate teaching hospital, linked with the Institute of Child Health (ICH). The Trust has 446 beds and provides a comprehensive range of paediatric specialties for tertiary level care.
