Job Description

We are looking to hire a permanent IT Release Manager to join Kantar’s Technology team. Having moved away from the WPP group, we are in the process of establishing a robust and independent IT infrastructure, purpose-built to support the operational management of Kantar at the highest levels.Focused primarily on our ERP and business intelligence systems, the IT Release Manager will be responsible for designing and embedding a release management framework to govern Kantar’s approach. They will ensure requests for change and version releases of applications and services into live production and other corporate solutions environments are appropriately risk-minimised, planned, tested, and adopted with minimal disruption.The IT Release Manager will also oversee a forward schedule of releases for BAU system upgrades and version changes, whilst supporting other technical experts across the business with large scale implementations using Agile methodologies. A member of the wider IT Service Management community at Kantar, the role will promote the discipline of Release Management across all divisions and in partnership with the central Technology function.Key Outcomes

  • Design, embed, and iterate on a corporate solutions release management framework governing Kantar’s approach.
  • Manage a forward schedule of releases, as well as separate calendars for larger implementations, to ensure successful and timely deployment.
  • Work to agreed KPIs around the velocity and efficiency of releases; report these metrics to the Technology leadership team with recommendations on how to improve.
  • Work with Technology stakeholders to evangelise the release management framework and help build organisational maturity around IT and technological change processes.
  • Manage, review, and close requests for change from across the business.
  • Investigate failed releases and recurring issues in change processes to understand the causes; communicate these to relevant stakeholders and plan for their mitigation in future projects.
    • Capabilities
  • Significant experience in enterprise change/release management in corporate applications and services, in an ITIL-compliant environment.
  • Direct experience working in an IT Release Manager or equivalent role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of software development lifecycles, including Waterfall and Agile delivery.
  • Experience building effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of seniority, both technical and non-technical.
  • Lateral thinking skills and an adaptable approach; able to thrive on the challenges that change brings.
  • University degree and/or professional certifications in Information Technology (or a related subject) and project management.
