Job Description

Head of Information Security - £60k-£80k - London With Work from home capabilityOur client is a a highly prestigious not for profit organisation providing support to 200,000 professionals with a global audience.As a senior member of the technology & services team, reporting to the Head of IT, the role will act as the lead for the cyber and data security strategy.In this capacity, the incumbent will define the strategy and design the enterprise-wide framework and plans that are necessary to remediate the organisation’s current systems’ and data risks as well as ensuring that all projects and technical design conforms to the defined standards. The role holder will be the principal consultant within the organisation for all cyber & data security matters and will jointly, with the Information Governance Lead, be responsible for maintaining the cyber/data risk register that forms part of the Audit & Risk Board reporting. Specifically, the duties of the role holder include:

  • To design a framework which incorporates the strategic and executive plans for the organisation’s cyber/data security.
  • Working directly with the Information Governance Lead, you will develop and oversee the implementation of the controls that support information security policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring that the organisation’s data is protected through appropriate systems that underpin system/data security.
  • Ensuring that effective reporting mechanisms are in place and work with the Head of Business Intelligence to formulate relevant KPI data sets that provide both dashboard and detailed insights into the organisation’s cyber/data security protection performance.
  • Working with external and internal audit partners to support a fully independent assessment of the organisation’s cyber/data security systems’ controls and ensuring that resulting actions are completed.
  • Putting into place regular system and network security audits to ensure ongoing risk assessments.
  • Recommending and implementing best practice solutions for system/data risk monitoring ensuring that controls are proactive and not simply reactive.
    • Skills required:
  • Experience of risk management methodologies, frameworks and standards such as ISO27001, ISO31000, ITIL, COBIT, NIST
  • CISM, CISA, CISMP, CISSP or similar qualification
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience as a data security practitioner - Proven experience of performing risk assessments and business impact analyses
  • A technical understanding of networks, access controls, data leak prevention, intrusion detection, firewalls
  • Good communication skills to liaise with external parties and senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to set strategy and to take ownership of implementation plans
  • Experience of building cyber security into test phases
