Job Description

Customer Service / Crowd Control Staff Wanted!What is this forThere is going to be a nine-day closure on the Arun Valley and Mole Valley in the summer of 2021. This will affect all routes via Horsham.Duration:From Saturday 14 August to Sunday 22 August, no trains will run between Three Bridges, Horsham and Arundel or between Horsham and Dorking. This is why the need for staff is required.Locations:Horsham Railway StationLittlehaven Railway StationChrist Hospital Railway StationBillingshurst Railway StationPulborough Railway StationArundel Railway StationAmberley Railway StationResponsibilities / Duties:The main tasks of the role are dealing with customers within a station during the busiest periods in this blockade, ensuring the safety of customers when entering and leaving the station by providing a high standard of customer care and support to colleagues.Full training is provided and fully paid.

You will need to be aged 18 or over, a confident communicator who is a team player with the drive to provide a friendly and professional service at all times. You must be flexible and available to work at a different station if required.This is a customer facing role and involves liaising directly with the public and railway station staff. It is essential therefore that you have a friendly and helpful demeanour which can be maintained even whilst working under pressure.Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Provide a high standard of customer care
  • Working together as a team to ensure customer safety
  • Greeting, assisting and directing people to replacement buses.
  • Ensure the safety of customers when entering and leaving the station
  • Respond to incidents and provide professional assistance
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Display exceptional time keeping, appearance and be able to go the extra mile
  • Crowd Safety - Dealing with crowd disruptions.
  • Presenting at all times, a smart, alert and visible presence at the station
  • Monitoring crowd movements and behaviour to identify potential issues or incidents and to take action as necessary
  • Reporting any security incidents or concerns to your onsite Supervisor
Uniform Standard:All staff will be expected to wear Black Trousers, White Shirt / Blouse, Black Shoes (No trainers), Black Coat (No Hoodies).
