Consultant GastroenterologistThe gastrointestinal services division at University College Hospital is one of the largest in the UK, with 18 clinical and academic consultant physicians working within the subspecialty areas of upper GI medicine, HPB medicine, lower GI/IBD, nutrition, and clinical physiology. There is a state-of-the-art 7 room endoscopy suite.The Division is seeking to appoint a new full time Consultant in Gastroenterology specialising in Colorectal Medicine and Adolescent Gastroenterology with particular expertise in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team caring for complex IBD. The successful applicant will have a commitment to high quality patient care, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets, clinical research and excellence in education/training.Colorectal Medicine and Adult IBDThe Colorectal Service at UCLH is one of the largest in the Trust, and has an international reputation for both the quality and expertise of the clinical service. There is a significant tertiary referral practice in IBD with large numbers of patients requiring biological therapy and specialist surgery. There is a team of 6 IBD consultants, 5 specialist nurses and a specialist dietician. Within the IBD service there are ongoing clinical trials and strong links to lab based research. The IBD service is supported by specialist colorectal surgery and excellent specialist radiology and histopathology.Adolescent GastroenterologyThe adolescent GI Service at UCLH is a secondary and tertiary referral service for younger patients predominantly with IBD. The Unit provides a diagnostic and therapeutic service to these patients, providing evidence-based treatments and support from the multi-disciplinary team including a specialist nurse, dietician and psychologist. We run a weekly adolescent clinic, have a dedicated GA endoscopy list and work closely with GOSH and the Royal Free Hospital in transitioning patients. UCLH has a unique adolescent in patient facility with a dedicated ward and day care infusion unit for 13 to 19 year olds.Key duties include:-
