CLINICAL PHYSIOLOGIST in Neurophysiology (Telemetry - Band 6)The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), Queen Square Division, is a leading Centre for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with a wide range of neurological and neurosurgical conditions. With its neighbouring Institute of Neurology, it is a world leading international Centre for research and training in basic and clinical neuroscience.The EEG-video telemetry unit is a self-contained dedicated unit that carries out tests for epilepsy and sleep disorders such as:• Diagnostic studies• Pre-surgical studies including ictal SPECT• Invasive studies (with subdural and depth (SEEG) electrodes)• Electrocorticography• PSG• MSLT• ActigraphylAt Home PSG and diagnostic VTThe Telemetry Unit is based in the Queen Mary Wing at the NHNN, it has a total of 7 beds and operates 7 days per week with a team of specialised nurses, clinical physiologists and Consultant Neurologists/ Neurophysiologists and Sleep Physicians. Clinical Physiologists participate in a rota that covers the hours from 0800 to 1845.Candidates will be qualified physiologists who have completed their basic training, and this post provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in more complex investigations. Senior physiologists and Consultant Medical Staff provide training and teaching in all investigations.Candidates must have a BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent, Part I IRCP and be eligible for RCCP registration. They must be competent with routine clinical neurophysiology investigations; training in the more specialised techniques will be given. The department is supportive of further formal and informal training and encourages external CPD activities.
