ANAESTHETIC Practitioner (Band 5)University College Hospital is a major Teaching Hospital and Research Centre with state of the art facilities. Our operating theatre is a busy and dynamic environment setting the benchmark for clinical excellence.We have a total of 19 operating rooms which cover different specialities ranging from General surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Bariatrics and upper GI surgery, Colorectal, Gynaecology, Urology, Oncology, Paediatrics, Maxilo Facial, ENT, Vascular and Plastic/ Breast surgery.We also provide anaesthetic care in outlying areas such as Brachytherapy, Endoscopy unit, Radiotherapy, CT/MRI, etc.Our new surgery and cancer facility with 8 operating theatres and 36 recovery beds will open in 1st quarter of 2021 which will offer further career opportunities which also includes proton beam therapy.Working as an Anaesthetic Practitioner you will be required to function effectively as a member of the peri-operative team to ensure the provision and development of an efficient and high quality surgical service. You will also have a broad knowledge and skill base including communication and team working skills, in order that you contribute to the smooth running of the theatre department.We aim to develop a multi-skilled workforce, and as an ODP, you will also have the opportunity to rotate in other specialist roles such as Scrub or Recovery if you choose.Opportunities are available to rotate in areas such as Main Theatres, Day Surgery Unit, Macmillan Cancer Centre, EGA Obstetric Theatres and soon to open surgery and cancer facility.We are committed to ongoing professional development and opportunities exist to undertake a wide range of in-house and university based training programme.The successful candidate will hold the appropriate experience and qualifications to be a current registered practitioner (RGN or ODP) and demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.Newly qualified Operating Department Practitioners (ODP) are also encouraged to apply.For further details / informal visits contact:To arrange for an informal visit / discussion, please contact:Armela Magtangob (Senior Nurse) on or via emailAl Tabora (Matron for Theatres and Anaesthetics Division) on or .
