Job Description

Biology Scientist Location: CambridgeContract: Full-time and permanentSector: BiotechnologySalary: £25,000 - £30,000 depending on experienceWork Hours: 40 hrs a week, Monday to Friday (09:00 - 17:30)Our client is an innovative biotechnology company based outside of the centre of Cambridge. They have built a platform to synthesis DNA which provides exciting possibilities for ensuring cheaper, faster and more accurate DNA / gene constructs than traditionalplasmid-based methods. They also support with AAV and Lipid-nanoparticle drug delivery projects. In a key phase of their growth, our client is looking to hire a Scientist into their product validation, development and optimisation teams on a full-time andpermanent basis.The OpportunityThis is an opportunity for a Biological BSc / MSc holder who has experience in a biological laboratory in industry (or equivalent experience). As a Biology Scientist, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the MSAT teams with DNA / RNA and new product development projects.
  • Design your own experiments to support the R&D and manufacturing teams.
  • Working on laboratory projects to support product validation, development and optimisation.
  • Using a range of molecular biology techniques (gel electrophoresis, DNA and RNA handling, plasmid preparations etc).
  • QC testing on products.
  • Attending company / team meetings.
  • Additional responsibilities not included in this list.
Skills and Experience NeededThe ideal candidate will have the following:
  • BSc or MSc in Biology (essential - equivalent experience welcome)
  • Prior industry experience in a biological laboratory (essential - equivalent experience welcome).
  • Hands on experience of a variety of molecular biology techniques. Some examples may include gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, cloning, gene editing, DNA and RNA handling (essential).
  • Excellent attention to detail. (essential).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and individually (essential).
  • Existing right to work in the UK (essential).
  • Use of Design of Experiment (DoE) principles (desired).
