Job Description

Location: CambridgeSalary: £22,000 - £24,500Contract Type: Full time, PermanentAre you looking for the next step in your career at OGTOr perhaps you know someone who would be a great fit for our Company and would like to explore joining usIf so, read on and find out more about our latest opportunity as a Validation & Verification Lab Scientist in our Cambridge based Regulatory, Medical and Quality Team.Our V&V Lab Scientist are knowledgeable individuals who are passionate about ensuring that OGTs products are safe, effective and fit for purpose, thus allowing them to be available globally and state of the art. Youll work for Lisa Stanners, V&V Team Leader,and play an integral role on a wide range of tasks within the laboratory including all laboratory aspects of the Validation & Verification Team and the delivery of internal technical and analytical performance data for a range of OGT products.What we are looking for in you: A background in a science related subject, preferably to A level of equivalent qualification Demonstrable experience of working in a GLP environment. Basic knowledge of FISH analysis and processing. An ability to use your scientific knowledge to problem solve and trouble shoot technical laboratory issues Good attention to detail An organised methodological approach to working, being able to manage your daily/weekly workload Work well individually and under supervision The ability to follow detailed processesWhat youll be doing for us: Responsibility for the smooth and efficient functioning of the laboratory, including consumables, reagents, microscopes, equipment and software Laboratory duties including biological sample culturing and, G-Banding and FISH slide-making and processing, image capture, receipt/logging of external samples, maintenance/use of internal samples and accurate up keep of laboratory records Responsibility for the majority of the V&V FISH processing workload, using Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded (FFPE) haematological and prenatal specimens Contributing to an assigned proportion of the analytical workload within the V&V team, using in-house or external specimens as required (e.g. FFPE, haematological and prenatal specimens), using manual microscopes and automated software Reporting of analytical results and upkeep of record and image databases Contributing to the documentation and infrastructure by assisting with report writing Responsibility for an appropriate proportion of the quality management system, including procedures and audits Of course, theres always some admin to do, this will include assisting with report writing and involvement with procedures and audits as a part of the Quality Management System.
