Job Description

Cell, protein, expression, antibody, antibodies, purification, mammalian, discovery, drug, science jobs My client is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a deep pipeline of novel antibody-based therapies in a broad range of indications. The companys platforms have been designed to maximise the diversity of human antibodies produced in response to immunisation with antigens.Your new roleThe ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic research scientist and will lead the expression team whilst supporting the antibody drug discovery platform by supplying antibodies and other proteins to the therapeutic areas. In depth knowledge of mammalian cell culture for recombinant protein expression (preferably antibodies) is essential. The ideal candidate will have experience with CHO transient expression and will be able to lead the development and optimisation of a cutting-edge transient expression platform. Knowledge or direct hands-on experience with stable pool generation is also desirable. What youll need to succeed

  • Leading and managing a small mammalian expression team.
  • Contributing to the development of novel platforms as well as the ability to troubleshoot, advise and optimise our current expression platforms.
  • Culturing CHO cells and performing transient and stable transfections, from 30mL to 20L scale.
  • Purifying DNA for transfection from midi to giga scale.
  • Liaising with teams upstream and downstream as well as project leaders to ensure timely delivery of material.
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with other teams and functions within the company.
  • Pro-actively seeking and creating opportunities for collaboration to provide technical and personal development within the team.
  • Overseeing management of production lab facilities maintaining product quality and adhering to delivery deadlines.
    • Education
  • PhD qualified in a relevant subject with industry experience or BSc/MSc with several years relevant industry experience.
  • Experience and/or interest in people management.
  • Experienced in industry standard mammalian suspension expression systems for recombinant protein production.
  • CHO transient expression experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Stable pool expression is also desirable.
  • Biotech or Industry experience is essential.
