Job Description

AJ Chambers are delighted to be in partnership with one of the UK’s leading wealth management and professional services group, who are seeking a talented individual to join their Tax team in Cambridge.What will you be doingAs a Tax Associate in the private client team, you will be responsible for assisting with the annual tax compliance work for a portfolio of clients and to assist other staff within the department with tax administration. Some of your day-to-dayresponsibilities will include:

  • Client compliance work:
o Delivering high quality service to clientso Responsible for a portfolio of clients which may including sole traders, partners, HNWIs, non-UK domiciliaries, partnerships, non-residents, and trustso Ensuring administration of the portfolio is completed including all aspects of compliance, accounts, tax returns and tax computationso Ensuring all beneficial elections and claims are made
  • Client planning work:
o Identifying possible planning possibilitieso Preparing reports for clientso Attendance at client meetingso Answering client ad-hoc questions and enquiries in respect of their personal tax affairs
  • Yearly routine checks and compliance
o Ensuring Partners procedures on annual tax cycle are complied witho Collating and maintaining client informationo Client billing and time analysis
  • Supervising trainees
o Overseeing trainees and reviewing worko Assisting other group members in professional worko Providing feedback for trainees appraisalsTo be successful in this role, you should:
  • Professionally Qualified ATT or studying for CTA.
  • Significant experience gained within a professional services firm.
  • Good knowledge of private tax compliance and ideally some exposure to planning/advisory work.
  • Technical knowledge to include CGT, IHT, business tax aspects. Non-resident, non-domicile and partnership experience will be useful.
  • Ability to write letters explaining complicated planning issues as well as verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate using a range of applications/programmes ideally including Digital software.
  • Ability to work independently and be a team player.
  • Confidence to deal with managers, partners, and clients
