Job Description

The Systems and Network Administrator will contribute to technology roadmaps, lead on projects to enhance our compute environment and provide break/fix & refinements to existing IT systems. The role requires the application of a wide range of systems andnetworking skills, knowledge & experience, to ensure critical IT services continue to operate at expected levels and are appropriately scaled to meet demand alongside a strong knowledge on Linux (Ubuntu) Administration / management.The role holder should strengthen current IT practices, maintain a culture of sharing and be keen to develop new technical skills. An understanding of emerging technologies and approaches will be essential to enhance the department and deliver value.The role requires a significant understanding of both computer and network security, exposure to network technologies is essential for the role holder to be successful.

• Provide business-as-usual / break-fix support for solutions deployed within the company, ensuring that requests logged via the Service Desk platform are completed based on impact and priority.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any IT service issues related to the UNIX infrastructure, WIFI, LAN & Firewall
• Implement enhancement to existing technologies.
• Research, evaluate and implement new technologies.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps for core IT services.
• Contribute to the IT enhancement backlog.
• Contribute to root cause analysis activities.
• Proactively communicate the status, plan of action(s), and resolution(s) of issues.
• Create, review, and maintain system documentation.
• Report on the health of IT services.
• Understanding of Industry trends and emerging threats
• Experience of interpreting information from security analysis tools

Qualifications

• A Minimal four years experience in IT role
• Experienced level demonstrated through certification(s)

Experience and Skills

• Technical administration roles covering Hardware and Software.
• Network support, design, and implementation (LAN & WAN& Firewall)
• Administration Network infrastructure. (Preferably Cisco)
• Wireless infrastructure (preferably Aruba).
• Firewall Administration (Preferably Checkpoint)
• LINUX server administration (LDAP, DHCP, DNS, Email / Postfix, Puppet)
• Use or ability to learn scripting (Bash/Python) / automation languages (puppet, foreman)
• Supporting NetApp storage (NAS / SAN)
• Proxy and web filtering
• Virtualisation/Container technologies (VMware Preferable)
• Backup technologies (BackupExec / Veeam /NetVault Preferable)
• Access control & Threat mitigation
