Staff Software EngineerThe Open Source Software (OSS) team is responsible for developing and improving the software eco-system around Arms next generation of applications processors. As a member of the Open Source Software Group you will have the opportunityto build upon your existing background, knowledge and expertise and contribute to Open Source projects, e.g. Yocto, Linux Kernel, Trusted Firmware, etc. providing essential reference implementations and optimizations to key software system components. If you are similarly passionate about innovative technologies then we want to hear from you!What will I Be Accountable ForContribution to the design and development of Reference systems and Platform software forArm application processors and MCUs.Providing technical leadership to an experienced team of system software developers.Working closely with software architects, project managers to plan and deliver software engineering requirements.Supporting key partners,upstreaming and maintaining open source software components.We would like you to be part of an extended development team and you can expect to be working face to face with some of the greatest household names in our industryHelping to develop, optimize anddeliver the software needed to support Arms ground-breaking IP, as well as helping Arm grow its role in new embedded and enterprise market segments.What Skills, experience and qualification do I needUniversity degree (or equivalent), ideally in a numeratesubject, although other graduates would be considered if they have appropriate experience.Experience in leading an embedded software development teamExperience in Android based systems and a command over concepts such as, bootloaders, device drivers.Experiencein developing complex software stack written preferably in C or C++. Basic scripting knowledge preferably on Python.Expertise in debugging and optimizing complex software systems.Good understanding on ARM- v8-A and ARM-M architectures, SMMU or IO-MMUs.Showa strong interpersonal and communication skills that are vital for success; we are looking for excellent written and spoken English.We expect a professional, enthusiastic and flexible approach to work with a flair for creative lateral thinking and problemsolving with a commitment to extend the breadth and depth of your knowledgeDesirable Skills & QualitiesExperience with working with open-source community. We value familiarity with open-source project development cycles and contribution processes.Developmentexperience with Edge software stack. Experience with Containers and Kubernetes will be a plus.Experience in working with Secure firmware, UEFI, U-Boot.An awareness about the value of CI and automated test systemExperience in using Yocto build system
